This term we have been studying poetry in all its mystery and brilliance. We started by examining music and rap, which led us to the realisation that poetry also relies upon beats and rhythms to convey its meaning. In fact rap and spoken word are branches of poetry.
We also looked at the skills of group work – how could you best work together to support your learning and to prepare you for a life of teams and joint ventures.
We used these skills to examine, in different ways, a number of unseen poems; to learn how to explore poetry without fear or prejudice. This is also important for the English Literature poetry examination where you will be asked to respond to an unseen poem.
Finally we have now embarked on a study of the AQA Anthology “conflict cluster”, on which you will also be examined.
See here for reminders of the work so far.
