In today’s lesson we looked more closely at multimodal language (including texting, chat rooms, social networking and email). We imagined that we had to explain this type of communication to an alien being – from why it is used through to who uses it.

We also began to think about the clues that we can gather from transcripts about where these conversations take place and how they differ from face to face conversations or telephone calls. This will be the basis of our study for the Controlled Assessment at the end of term.
