Hello Year 10.  I really enjoyed our first lesson today and am excited about the prospect of working with you over the next two years.

We talked about inspiration today and I am feeling particularly inspired after a rewarding first day of term. I meant what I said about the importance of having figures of inspiration in your life and of having personal goals.

I value these because we will all find moments when we lack motivation and when work becomes too much of a challenge. It is easy to want to give up but it is through having people to turn to – whether in our lives, or a famous figure who inspires us – that we are able to keep focused on our end goals.

I will be encouraging you to think more about this over the next term. Perhaps it was just first lesson reluctance that stopped some of you being able to answer, but I would like you all to be able to identify a figure who you can see as inspirational. The answer to this, like most answers, may be found through reading or it might be in discussion with those around you about their inspiration.

Anyway, do have a think and get back to me!
